Yate Men's Shed

Yate Men’s Shed is a community-based organisation that provides a venue for members of our community to meet in a friendly and convivial environment away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, to pursue their practical hobbies / interests and to socialise. Our members have a broad spectrum of skills and interests which we are able to share and expand on.

We hold two afternoon sessions a week at Yate Parish Hall, Station Road, where members can use the workshop facilities or just drink tea and have a chat. The sessions help reduce loneliness and isolation, but most importantly, they are fun.

Men typically find it more difficult to build social connections than women, and unlike women many men may have a limited network of friends with whom they can share personal worries and concerns. Whilst not the case for all men, for many, when retirement eventually comes, it can feel like their personal identity and purpose is lost. The Men’s Sheds community helps to change this by reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness, enabling members to gain a new sense of purpose and belonging.

So, if you would like to join us, do come along or give us a call you would be very welcome.
