The Arts Society Lecture: Leonardo da Vinci 500 Years On
Chipping Sodbury Town Hall
Leonardo da Vinci lived from 1452 to 1519 so the 500th anniversary of his death has just passed. His autograph paintings are few with a number undergoing extensive restoration. Many of his drawings are based on his approach of remaking nature. This talk reviews the philosophy with which Leonardo’s paintings are presented today and reviews the contribution made by his drawings to the world in which we currently live.
Guy Rooker is a retired orthopaedic surgeon who has had a lifelong interest in Leonaro da Vinci.
We meet in Chipping Sodbury Town Hall at 10.30 for 11.00 a.m. and 1.30 for 2.00 p.m. Tea and coffee are available half an hour before the lectures.
